The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder
3.0
This was added to my TBR list ages ago as a book with Peru as a setting. The premise was interesting: five people die when an old Incan rope bridge collapses (in the 1700s), and a friar who witnesses it looks into their lives. There are hard-hitting themes in the short novel about the nature of love and about destiny and faith, but I must admit, but I completely missed them. Still an enjoyable book, and I am keen to watch one of the movies based on the book.
