The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros
3.0

Firstly, let me express how much I LOVED the plot-twist at the end. Holy moly. I expected a swing of the story, but this??? No. Wow. Thought that out very well.

BUT: as well as the wartime love story was written, I found it very dull at times. Some of the chapters from the wartime were really not necessary or did not need to be stretched out so long. Some things could have just been an add-on to another chapter instead of a full 20-page chapter.

You can obviously see the switch in writing style between the two ages. I liked the lightness of the story set in the present time. I do think that the constant trust issues of Georgia are predictable but very needed in this story. The way Georgia calls the great-grandmother Gran had thrown me quite a lot of times at the beginning because I couldn’t quite figure out if it was a great-great-grandmother, a great-grandmother or whatever but it is not of the essence, really. Later on it becomes very clear.
