This book is about a piece of Korean history that I previously knew nothing about and I’m glad the introduction provided some useful context. Definitely not for everyone, this story is bleak, and there are many graphic descriptions of death and harm caused by the brutal crackdown of the government on student and labour movements. I’ll be thinking about this book for a long time.
