I am, as always, a sucker for an Alexis Hall book, and this one, as usual, knocks it out of the park.

Sam is a distracted and mildly ineffectual store manager who values his employees needs and lives over the numbers his boss would like the store to make. He picks a real cockamamie scheme to try to protect them all and it never quite backfires, but never really goes to plan either.

Jonathan owns a chain of bed and bath retail stores and has prioritized profit and financial stability over most human and emotional pursuits. If you asked him whether it was better to be loved or feared, our boy would absolutely say feared. It gets results.

It has all the charms of the amnesia trope with the added tension of it being fake amnesia. Also it's a Christmas romance eventually, with a lot of fun between family Christmas shenanigans and office Christmas party.

There are some fun emotional twists along the way that really give depth to the story and characters.
