The Solace of Sharp Claws by Lana Pecherczyk
5.0

"Because I can't breathe when you're around. And I detest it. I can't think. I can't move. I've survived a decade without him, but the thought of a single day without you... I hate it."

5 Well-blessed stars!

After reading Rush's story in THE LONGING OF LONE WOLVES, I was so excited to get my hands on this sequel and to read Thorne's story. Based on what we saw of Thorne in TLOLW, I knew he was going to be surly and brooding, but I did not expect how angry he was at the world and how much pain he kept hidden by his brash attitude. His unorthodox and lonely childhood was the source of all his frustration and anger that he has carried with him into adulthood, and it took a woman who was just as strong-minded as he was to force him to change his mindset. And Laurel was definitely a strong woman.
"I'll have my mate now."

Even though Thorne in all of his angry broodiness seduced me like no other, I absolutely loved Laurel as a heroine as well. As a human, she had created her own fitness empire from the ground up, relying on her determination and grit for her success. When she's magically transported to awaken during Thorne's time, she has to find a way to make the best of her new reality while finding a way to mourn the loss of everything she had worked so hard to build. She's used to being in control, but her steadfast and determined nature turns out to be exactly what Thorne needs to knock some sense into him. I would definitely recommend reading this series in order as there is an overarching storyline that continues in each book that you wouldn't fully grasp out of order. I am super stoked for book 3, THE DREAMS OF BROKEN KINGS, where we will get Jasper's story and hopefully learn more about his heartbreaking past
