Resisting Maxu by Victoria Aveline
3.0

I like that Resisting Maxu breaks away from the mold. There is an instant mating bond recognition, disproving the theory that humans have to spend a lot of time with their love interest in order to recognize the bond. It is also very creative in all the new cities we get to see in Clecania.

As number 6 in the series, this one isn't a standout for me. There's a bit of a lull in the middle and Maxu is a lot like his brothers. I am more excited to get to know the personalities outside of this group of brothers. I enjoyed Fejo's book and I'm really looking forward to Sitkhand... and Rhaego, of course.

I'm glad to see the overall story develop more. I typically lose interest when fantasy books turn too political, but Victoria Aveline does a good job of keeping it secondary to the romances. Still, I'm curious now about what will happen next in Clecania.
