The House of Hades by Rick Riordan

5.0

Oof. This book. Where to start? Well... lets start with that fall to Tartarus shall we? My heart was in my throat at the end of Mark of Athena and I only had to wait like a minute to continue reading. I found Percy and Annabeth's journey through the deepest and darkest part of hell completely compelling. Not only were they trying to get to the Doors of Death to save the world but they were also questing to get back to their friends. Their bravery, ingenuity and heart propelled them onwards and I was so thankful to see them together once again. And Bob and Little Bob... I love them!

In the upper realm the other heroes go through quite a transformation of their own. Dear, dear Nico finally lets a person understand what it is that makes him tick. Jason forms into a hero who is willing to straddle both camps. Piper comes into her own with her Charmspeak and learns that love alone is a weapon worth having. Hazel learns what gifts she really has and is able to hone them by the end. Leo discovers that he is able to talk to people on an unplottable island and Frank... dear Frank comes into his lineage from both his godly and mortal parents.

On a whole I say that "House of Hades" was epic and I cannot wait to begin the last book.
