Absolutely loved this book! I was very much here for its combination of experimental and quite surreal writing style coupled with a subject matter that tackles national identity, immigration, queerness and working class identity. It’s SO rare to come across a book that tackles all of these things, especially all together. It made some really serious points about the discrimination embodied in the immigration system and its rules and regulations, but also brilliantly satirised the absurdity and bureaucracy of the Home Office and the trappings of Britishness. It was also good to see issues of racism and right wing ideologies within the LGBTQ community tackled. All of this whilst the central characters are battling a delinquent leopard and trying to sell their line of knockoff designer tees and at the same time hold down a shitty job in the service industry. It’s wild and I loved it!
