I'm glad I stuck with this book. I wanted to let it go during the "Soldier's Tale", because it read like a high schooler's boring fantasy. The other characters are much more interesting, though, and each tale is told in a different style, making Simmons quite a versatile writer who can use many voices. As for the end (and I'm not going to spoil it), it was unexpected and incredibly satisfying. I'm looking forward to reading the next part.
