Unmasking Autism: Discovering the New Faces of Neurodiversity by Devon Price

5.0

"It's always better to be myself, no matter the cost"

In the book, Devon uses his professional knowledge, person experience, and the experience of dozens of other autistic people to break down the concept of unmasking.

In the process of reading this book I learned so very much more about autism and autistic people than I have ever had the opportunity to learn before. I received the guidence once, that if I wanted to understand autism I should learn from autistic people, and this book was a great chance for me to do that. Autism is very dinamic and diverse, presenting in different people in dramatically different ways.

I appreciated this book so much because it helped me really conceptualize autism and humanize it. I can visualize a lot of the experiences described by autistic people in this book, and have experienced many of them. Because of this, I feel empowered in my ability to understand autistic experiences by multiplying the experiences I have had and in that way conceptualize what that would look like to experience all the time.

I would recommend this book to anyone, autistic or not. It's a great guide to living a self-actualizated life.
