What a disappointment.
I liked the premise, but Caleb's character disappointed - no, irritated me so much. I hated him every damn minute, to the point I didn't even want him to be with her in the end. Ava didn't deserve what he put her through, and he sure as hell did not deserve her forgiveness in the end. He was immature, selfish and just an asshole. I get that the author was trying to build an intense, reserved, even problematic character, but it was too much, for me at least. I got really bored in the middle of the book, because at a certain point the pattern was repetitive: sex, getting closer, pulling away, getting closer again, sex, etc. The most toxic relationship I have seen in a book.
I'm here to read about men that are awesome, THAT WE DESERVE TO READ ABOUT (and dutifully represent like 10% of the male specimen), not to find in the pages of a book I read to escape reality, the common jerk I can literally find in any corner.
