Cowboy Christmas by Mary Connealy

1.0

This wasn't the book for me. I didn't find the main character Annette's story believable. If her dad didn't care about her and "forgot" about her, why did he send her east in the first place? How could the Leveque's follow her from town to town? And the way Annette thinks.... I could understand the logic behind that (plus it gets tiring and depressing reading about someone who keeps highlighting their good characteristics yet believes she is worthless.
Now Elijah was so up and down emotionally he should have been a woman (and he thought all emotions were unpleasant). Not someone I want to spend too much time with.
The character of Ruby (Ma) added warmth and nuturing to the story. I enjoyed the character development between Annette and Ma. They seemed to fill the hurting holes in each other and encourage each other.
I also like the fact that Annette experiences a miracle during her ride down the river. I think it did a wonderful job of demonstrating how God can protect and save his own.
This was a book that I struggled to get through. I can assure you that I won't be reading this one again.
