I have a rule that I can only rate a book 5 stars if it stirs up enough emotion to get some tears flowing, so I can only give this 4.75 stars. With that being said, Legendborn is DEFINITELY one of the best fantasy experiences I've had in a long time.
It was so good, in fact, that I got dressed to go purchase Bloodmarked only to find out it hasn't been released yet. Safe to say I made the fastest pre-order of my life today, lol.
Legendborn was a beautiful exploration of grief, the African-American experience, and a unique twist on the ancestral magic practiced in some of our communities. November 8th, 2022 can't come soon enough!
