Fairy, Texas by Margo Bond Collins

3.0

3.5 stars. While the story has a lot of the standard YA tropes (h moves to new town, catches the eye of not one but 2 hot guys, is ‘special’ in some supernatural way) it wasn’t annoying because Laney herself is pretty cool, doesn’t allow herself to be fobbed off or distracted by hormones and demands answers to what is going on and how it affects her. Also the potential love triangle never really eventuates into a real triangle because it is obvious who Laney likes (and it is also clear that guy No.2 is chasing her for forms sake and actually is interested in someone else). I really enjoyed how sarcastic Laney was and I liked how she wasn’t the Yatah of the prophecy like everyone thought but instead had those cool suck out the fairy/demon life force powers. Hah serves those evil rapey bastards right. I was NOT happy about poor Sarah being killed. I liked that Laney had a normal friend who knew some of what was going on.
