Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
4.0

When I first started this book, I didn't think I was going to finish it. The first 100-150 pages reads so much like Harry Potter that I wondered how Rowell was able to write this in good conscience. (Note: I have not yet read FanGirl, so this was my first introduction to these characters). But, I'm glad I stuck with it, because around page 150 the book takes a turn and begins to stand on its own. Rowell has created a charming world with unique and endearing characters (admittedly there are similarities to Rowling's work). While there some plot holes, I wasn't distracted by them. I was originally going to give this 3.5 stars, rounded down to 3 because of the beginning, but a book this engrossing deserves 4 stars.
