First thought: teen Parent Trap. We’ve all heard the stories of what those DNA ancestry tests come up with: cheating spouse, adopted kids, random heritage, etc. Well, this time it turns out Abby has an older sister she never knew about! And where do they go to figure out how and why this happened?! Summer camp, of course!

Abby is a reckless and adventurous amateur photographer with parents who want her to get academic help all summer and not let her enjoy her life. Savvy, the newfound sister, is a tightly-wound Instagram star with rich, wacky parents. Together? They act like sisters!

I really enjoyed how Abby and Savvy truly acted like sister who clash and fight and weren’t just BFFs from the start. Their relationship felt natural and not forced. Abby’s relationship with Leo, on the other hand, wasn’t my favorite. They were cute and definitely fit into that friends to lovers trope, but I just didn’t seem to care as much about them getting together. Maybe it was because romance wasn’t the focus of this book, but I didn’t see much passion there.

This book is a cute, if somewhat predictable, YA read. It kept my interest and definitely picked up once I was through the halfway point. It wouldn’t be the first book I would recommend to others, but I’ll probably keep it on my shelf.
