I'm not slamming Epictetus or this work. The publisher claims this is the most accessible of the Stoic Works, and that's because it contains about enough text to fill a monthly tear away calendar.

That being said the best retort of all time is an ancient one indeed, "If a friend tells you that someone has criticized or insulted you, say, "They must not know about my other faults, or they would have pointed out those, too."
