The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

"That's the problem. We let people say stuff, and they say it so much that it becomes okay to them and normal for us.
What's the point in having a voice if you're going to stay silent in those moments you shouldn't be."

So important. I was hooked beyond repair. I was blessed enough to have read [b:To Kill a Mockingbird|2657|To Kill a Mockingbird (To Kill a Mockingbird, #1)|Harper Lee|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553383690l/2657._SY75_.jpg|3275794] earlier this year, and I can't help but legitimately fall apart at the fact that these two stories, more than half a century apart, depict such vile, disgusting and inhumane behaviour, with enough similarities to make you feel ashamed to be human. It is stories like these, important and unashamed to their core, the ones that first take your heart and shatter it into unrecognition, that will instill true change of hearts.
Thank you, Angie Thomas.
