I would read a list of the inventory of items in Adrienne Young's attic as long as she wrote it out herself. Somehow, I know it would be beautiful. She. Doesn't. Miss.

I've never read anything quite as atmospheric as Young's writing. As I journeyed through Saiorse, I wanted to cozy up under a blanket with a cup of tea (I don't drink tea) and just absorb all of it - the sights, the smells, the sounds. I'm not one to visualize much of what I read (call it a lack of imagination), but this was a setting I could feel myself in.

The dual timeline of this one builds suspense at a steady pace - a slow burn, if you will - as the stories of the characters and the island unfolded. Each point of view brought something different to the table, and each character has a secret that changes everything.

While slow burn books usually don't blow me out of the water, the writing in this book was worth it and kept me from getting bored. I loved every page and wanted to savor it as I read, but I also had to know what happened! I read the last 150 pages in essentially one sitting.

Well done, Adrienne Young - this one will have a permanent spot on my bookshelves!
