I wasn't as crazy about this book as others I've read by this author, but it still was intriguing and entertaining enough. I feel like the background to this story is super political but the author doesn't show any strong political or philosophica opinions through the main characters who are narrating, Elvis and Maite. I liked Elvis enough but Maite got annoying quick. She was constantly preoccupied with her looks and having a boyfriend and feeling sorry for herself for not having those things. I do feel like she changed by the end, at least based on the epilogue. But her perspective in the book was the dullest part.
