What first drew me in was the genre and the synopsis—it had that dark fantasy pull I couldn’t resist. From the very beginning, the world felt dark and atmospheric, and the descriptions were so vivid that I didn’t struggle at all to picture every scene in my head. It was immersive in all the right ways.
The FMC? Absolutely strong. She’s not your typical main character who constantly needs saving. She tries to figure things out herself, and there’s real, noticeable character growth throughout the story—which I loved.
And let me just say… YES, there’s a plot twist. It doesn’t come early, but once it hits toward the end—jaw on the floor. I literally gasped. I went into this book blindly, and that twist hit hard in the best way.
The writing isn’t in first person, which I usually prefer, so I did struggle a bit at the beginning. But once she entered Phantasma, I was hooked. The pacing is medium—it never felt rushed, and every detail that needed to be revealed was given time to breathe. It was done really well.
I’d definitely recommend this one for anyone who loves enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, forbidden romance, and all those dark fantasy vibes. You’ll want to dive in blind and let it pull you under.
