A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

5.0

I promise I’m going to stop rating every book I read with five stars, but apparently I’m picking EXCELLENT books to start off the year. I grabbed this one off the shelf randomly after the reviews urged me to make it my next priority.

This was absolutely riveting. (Important: I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention TWs for sexual assault, drugs, animal death, and sexual abuse—but not in my review). A well told story through notes, diagrams, and a well done back and forth between first person in Pippa’s notes and third person as the story is told. I was expecting it to be jarring but it was truly well done. The ending was a twist and then another one and then another one, not overdone but superbly balanced.

I’ve already preordered the sequel. Holly Jackson is officially a new favorite.
