Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne
5.0
This is a great example of good Hawthorne writing, unlike some of his more iconic, longer books. This carries a lot of similar themes of sin with The Scarlet Letter, but it being a short story makes the pacing superior. There are also more emotionally shown moments throughout the book, some even feeling like a satanic horror film. I recommend reading this before reading Hawthorne's bigger books, just to start on a high note.
