The Broken Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin

5.0

❝ There are some things one can understand only by experience, and there are some experiences no one wants to share. ❞

➸ Gods : jealous, imperfect and grey
➸ Blind and badass main character
➸ High fantasy with a romance subplot
➸ The most riveting narration

❝ Love betrayed has an entire different sound from hatred outright. ❞

N.K. Jemisin just wrote the most interesting characters, so much depth to all of them. You love them, you hate them, you doubt them, you change your mind so many times bc they are flawed and fallible, even the Gods. Oree, our narrator and main character has such an interesting outlook on life. She's an artist, she's a friend, she's a lover, she's a fighter, and I love the journey we went on with her in this book. All the stars, but read book 1 first. (also five stars if you're wondering)

❝ Men praise parts of me endlessly - always the parts, mind you, never the whole. ❞
