Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky

This was a very long read, but I held on to every single word. It rivals for my favorite book of the year currently. I did end up listening to it as an audio book and if you are able, I highly recommend it. The narrator did such an amazing job amplifying the atmosphere. It was dark and eerie. The writing was amazing and so well thought out. I never once knew where anything was going and the constant twists and turns it took threw me. It was one of those books where things just kept getting worse and worse and every time I thought it was over, it just kept going but in the best way possible. Once it was over, I wanted to badly to have the obligatory unnecessary epilogue where they tell me how scarred this entire community was and the process they took to move on from everything that happened because I have no doubt any amount of therapy would ever make me come to terms what had happened if I had been in this situation. I loved the characters, I loved the description of events, I loved the constant climb of adrenaline, the entire thing was 1 big panic attack that didn't stop until the end. If you are looking for a creepy read for spooky season (or any time) this is it.
