I’ve not yet related to a character in fiction as much as I’ve related to Robin, and I’m very glad this book exists to enrich her character. It’s so real and queer in such a bizarrely familiar and relatable way (lots of instances of realising I’ve had the exact same experiences she has). Stranger Things is a show I’ve grown up alongside and has been a part of my life for a long time, from before I figured out my queerness, and it’s amazing to have my experiences not only present in the text but integral to it - so much of Robin’s story reflects the major themes of the show itself, and brings forward a very beautiful, simple statement - we (queer people) have ALWAYS been here, even when times were tough, and moreover there has always been joy present in our lives and existences. Good book, in summary.
