The Court of the Air
by Stephen Hunt
The Court of the Air is a complicated adventure story in which I'm still not entirely sure what all happens. At any given time, the reader has to keep up with a minimum of three or four storylines running simultaneously. On its own, that would be fine. However, the characters and locations of the book make matters a bit more muddled. Hunt doesn't have an in-between ground for his names; they are simple, English names (Molly, Harry, and Oliver), or they look like he dropped his cat on the keyboard. At its core, The Court of the Air is a fantastic idea, but I feel it could have done with a bit more hammering to smooth out the edges.
