Valiant by Holly Black

4.0

Though "Valiant" still takes place within the world of Folk, Black's encond entry into the series unfolds in the real world with the supernatural dancing around the edges and I'm fairly certain that accounts for why I enjoyed this book so much more than the first.

I loved Val and how she manouvers through and between the real world and the world of Faerie and how doing the right thing often seems to be a struggle - a reality that is often overlooked.

I still feel a little icky after reading Black's books but I'm really starting to appreciate how that distinguishes her from other authors.
