Duke, Actually
by Jenny Holiday
Well, that was adorable. I was just thinking about how I like friends to lovers stories where we get to see them becoming friends first, and this is exactly that. They develop a great, genuine friendship before the romance really begins (though of course you can see it coming), and then watching them fall for each other is just...lovely. I wouldn't describe this as a romcom really, but I love that the protagonists share a sense of humor (). I also really liked the way Holiday handled the more serious issues (the heroine's ongoing divorce, the hero's toxic family) and how they each supported each other. Just a great read all around.
