3.75

I felt like this book was okay. I liked the employee/boss dynamic. I felt that the book progressed a little quicker than I would've preferred, it would've been nice to have a little more tension build up or something. I felt that the way the MMC past was done, was really good. I liked the big reveal for his tragic past relationship. It really shows what kind of a person he is, that he kept things secret even when it didn't benefit him in the least.
I rated it a 3.75 because I really didn't like the miscommunication trope. I don't mind a little bit of this trope in a book, but I felt like this was ALL over the book. We'd get to a new scene and I'd think, how are we going to miscommunicate this? And then it would happen. I felt if the FMC would stop running and just hear the MMC out, and if the MMC would just be honest and insist on talking, then half the problems wouldn't have existed in the first place.
