The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

3.0

I was much more invested in the characters than the plot and the murder mystery aspect of this murder mystery novel kind of runs out of steam towards the end. Loose ends are tied up hurriedly, a couple of authorial mechanisms are conveniently activated, and it lacked that one climactic scene where the great detective sits down all the characters and satisfyingly unveils all. Felt as if the characters were so vivacious and so real that, to be honest, they could be doing anything else (i.e. not solving murders) and it would be equally fun.

BUT. Such a fun read — thoroughly entertaining and recommended. Great book club material.
