Obsession Falls by Claire Kingsley
4.0

Obsession Falls is the first book in the Haven Brothers series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Audrey Young is back in her hometown of Tilikum. She’s unable to stay with her mother because her dog is stressing her mother out, so she finds a place to rent. The landlord, Josiah Haven, is very grumpy and intimidating. And, to make matters worse, she has this eerie feeling of being watched. She shakes it off, but then she starts getting threats.

Josiah had been burned by women in the past, so he closed off his heart. Yet, there’s something about his new neighbor, Audrey, that catches his attention. He can’t get her out of his mind, and when he discovers that someone is stalking her, he will do anything to keep her safe.

Audrey’s stalker. Well, they were just extremely upset and irrationally angry over Audrey being back. They just don’t want Audrey around. But why? There seemed to be no reason.

I was upset with her stalker – which turned out to be someone I did not expect! The stalker was unaliving squirrels. It’s not gruesomely detailed though, so I could get through it. Honestly, her stalker was just crazy.

This was a slow burn romance with minimal spice, sweet moments, and a lot of mystery and suspense. I really liked watching the friendship and bond growing between Audrey and Josiah. She slowly got past his tough exterior, and he became extremely protective. He really went out of his way to try to eliminate anyone he thought to be the one threatening her. Anyway, this was my first Claire Kingsley book, but it will not be the last!
