The Warden by Daniel M. Ford

4.0

Comparing this to twin peaks does this a disservice. Overall this has a fairly standard fantasy plot. What really shines is the characters. I care for all of them, even the rudest of the villagers. The main trio is so good and I'm really excited to see where they go. It feels a lot like an RPG in many ways and I enjoyed that, except where quests get a little choppy. I think there are some issues with pacing and structure, along with lacking detail on certain elements of lore, but I deeply enjoyed this and want more

The McMillan cover is criminal though, I'll have to find a St. Martin's copy since it simply embodies the book better
