This was an interesting one. I admittedly struggled to get into it. It took me until about halfway through when I finally starting getting invested in the story and characters. The world is very “Alice and wonderland”, so concepts, rules, language, etc are all very strange and a bit difficult to follow. I find this can come across as a bit self serving sometimes (ie the author is trying to sound incredibly clever and cerebral). I found myself wanting it to “just be over” for a while, but by the end I was intrigued in the next book.
