This was a fantastic beginning to what I think is going to be an incredible series to read. The characters were fascinating, the plot was interesting and continually moving forward, and the world was incredible, with the dynamics of the royals and the cutthroat environment that always had something new to add. And! That! Ending! I cannot wait to read the second book!
There is so much more to the jewel of the lone city than meets the eye, and as each layer is peeled back to reveal more, the reader is only even more captivated. We discover things about Violet as she finds herself entangled in a forbidden romance and life-or-death situations.
I have no idea why more people aren't talking about this book. I encourage everyone to pick it up and just give the first few chapters a try - you won't want to put it down!
