I didn't realize until just now logging in here to add the review that this was classified as YA, I guess in that case I'd probably bump it to 3.5. My biggest issue had been a frustration with so much of the story being told from Katie's somewhat immature perspective, but if marketed as YA, that makes more sense.
Anyhow - it took me a while to get into this while listening to the audiobook and I almost gave up, but once well into the story, I became more invested. I think it could have been firmed up significantly to pack more punch, but did find myself feeling for all of the characters, even when their actions were infuriating. An interesting story of family dynamics and secrets.
