I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I can't put my finger on exactly why it didn't resonate with me--but by the back half of the book it really felt like a slog. I guess I liked it enough to keep slogging, so that's something.
I think Tchaikovsky's points made about robots and society, and the parallels he draws, are interesting if a little one-note. However, I think I was expecting more from Uncharles than the story was willing to give. Maybe that was the point, but it was not very interesting. It was not quite comedic enough, dark enough, sci-fi enough, or post-apocalyptic enough to catch me--if the book had gone all-in on any one of these, I think it would have been stronger.
