Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky

5.0

In the final days of Earth, humanity throws itself across the cosmos attempting to save the human race. Planets are terraformed, and ark ships are built to carry humans to them.

This story is told through multiple perspectives. Mostly Holsten: a historian aboard one of these ark ships who is, through centuries, in and out of hyper-sleep. And Portia: the name given to each individual, generationally, in a long line of spiders who live on one of the terraformed planets.

When these civilizations meet, which will be safe?

The first word that comes to mind with this book is, Brilliant. The concepts, the science, the use of the evolutionary process.

Children of Time has adventure, action, humor, heartache, everything you could want in a story. I am going to be singing it's praises for a long time.

If you enjoy science-fiction on any level I strongly recommend this book.
