genuinely, obsessed with this. like omg?? i’ve been SUPER into her books lately. like i lovvvveeeed check&mate a lot. and i was so excited for this and boy did it deliver. i wasn’t sure what to expect because it’s unlike what she’s released so far but omgggg i really hope we get a second one with serena!!! listen, if there’s one thing about me, it’s that i absolutely worship the mate trope. so add that to a really fun plot and lowe (bc omg gimme) and misery (i love her she was so funny)???? perfect. the only reason i wouldn’t give this a 5 stars was the ending… i think it was out of character kind of considering how honest they had been with each other the whole way through? more just a conflict addition that felt unnecessary. like that scene could have been skipped and gone directly to the office yk?? and well also the last like 10 pages with the knot…. some of that felt really weird and leaning very much into i don’t even know how she came up with this? like how did this spawn in her brain… REGARDLESS THOUGH, this was exactly what i wanted and needed. her protagonist’s inner voice is always funny and engaging and badass. and the side characters are also somehow always great despite it being like a 350 page book. like it’s just well done. and also her men always hit so hard. like sorrrryyyy??? not a single miss. she’s just auto buy.
