The Bear and the Nightingale is a fantastic novel. The author is incredibly skilled at crafting a story and bringing the reader fully into the world of said story. The majority of the characters were compelling and complex and felt genuine. The author immersed the story in folklore elements and crafted a fantastic narrative and I can’t wait to read the second book in the series. At the same time, the novel has some slight pacing issues. All in all, I’d say the novel is a fantastic story and I’d recommend it to any fantasy fan.
