This was an interesting book to get through because of Becca. I found myself sympathising with her as well as getting infuriated by her. I pride myself on being able to read YA novels from a young adult self and not my current self. However, this book really put that to the test. The portrayal of grief in this book was really heartbreaking. It was so sad seeing Beccas whole family navigate grief and how messy it was.
Caleb and his brother were the highlight of the book for me. I enjoyed the levity that they both brought. I loved the romance that blossomed between Caleb and Becca because it really aided in her healing.
Now one thing that was odd to me is how these teenagers talked to their parents. It's probably the fact that I come from an African household, but wow, that was quite something. I couldn't fathom how one could talk to their parents that way. I'm going to take this as a difference in culture.
All in all, it was a really cute YA romance
