Dangerous Depths by Karen Amanda Hooper

3.0

I really liked the first book, Tangled Tides. I found it funny and different and I was looking forward to the second book, Dangerous Depths. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t as amazing as the first one. It was, however, still pretty great.

The best part of the book was the love story between Rowan and Vienna. It’s so beautiful and real and beyond ordinary feelings – this is without a doubt True Love! It’s seemed a bit forced at first, but during the story things happen that made the love seem realistic and amazing and I loved reading about it – I’m trying really hard not to spoil here!

Another part of the story that I really loved was Nixie. I disliked her SO MUCH in Tangled Tides, but in Dangerous Depths I got to know her and that helped. She actually turned out to be quite extraordinary, loyal, fierce and determined. She is the exact opposite of Yara in this book, because Yara is a pain in my ass. She is so annoying! I don’t really know why, but I just didn’t love her the way I did in Tangled Tides. Most of the time I just wanted her to get lost in Harte. (Okay, that was mean. I’m sorry. But you better be more likeable in Sacred Seas, my dear Yara!).

My main problem with the story, though, is Harte. It is such a weird place and even though it is thoroughly described, I never really understood it. I think it is just a bit too much for me. It was interesting, but I missed the well-known placed from Tangled Tides.

Even with all my complains, I still liked the story. As always, Karen Amanda Hooper writes a great book. The pacing is perfect, the story is intriguing and the characters are diverse. I can’t wait for the next installment, Sacred Seas!
