The Unwomanly Face of War: An Oral History of Women in World War II by Svetlana Alexiévich

5.0

This book is incredible. History is one of my greatest passions, I read about it all the time, I actually work in a WW2 museum, and still I have never read anything as powerful as this. Women at war are often looked over, or their impact is reduced and ignored, but this book brings to light stories from the hundreds of women who saved the eastern front. If you have even the smallest interest in war or Russian history, read this. It's heart shattering but so so so incredible.
