The Housekeeper and the Professor
by Yōko Ogawa
I loved this book! I've been wanting to read it for quite a while, although I am not sure why or where I first heard about it. This has just been on my to-read list for a while where my excitement could build.
I wasn't disappointed this is a beautiful book. It's simple. There isn't much of a plot or any action, but its beauty lies in that simplicity. The professor can only remember the past 80 minutes and must be reintroduce himself to the housekeeper and her son every day, but in his state where he lacks anything but the present moment is some sort of loving compassion that most people don't have. It's like the elegance of numbers that is almost impossible to otherwise see.
I loved this book! I'll say it again. I loved this book. I definitely recommend it.
