It's a beautiful story following a Korean family in Japan across four generations. It's a new perspective of a window into history and oppression that fascinated me. The book was beautifully written and incredibly powerful. Pachinko has a unique storytelling style. I really enjoyed Sunja's storyline. However, by the end of this book I had lost quite a bit of interest and almost DNF'd it near the end, specifically as more and more family members were introduced. It felt like a full submersion into the Korean and Japanese cultures and I really liked it. But, I was starting to lose a little bit of interest by the end. It's definitely a decent enough read to potentially pick up at some point in time.
