Reading Zadie Smith reminds me of that George Orwell quote "The best books are those that tell you what you know already." In this collection of essays she explores the concept of freedom, in art, in life, in technology, in relationships, in a family, in history, in writing, in music.
Whenever I read her writing I feel so connected, and never more than this essay collection. I don't think I'll ever look at a painting the same way, and isn't that the most you can ever expect from a book? I've said it before but I just adore Zadie Smith's writing and seeing her in depth thoughts was such an enjoyable reading experience ✨
