My Life with the Walter Boys by Fallzswimmer, Ali Novak
1.0

“The book is always better than the movie/series” is a hill I will still die on, but I definitely ate my words with this one. WOW I was disappointed by this book. Where to begin! The main character was insufferable more often than not. Yes she endured a horrible tragedy, but the moments where the grief of that is actually addressed are few and far between compared to the drama between her crushes. All the Walter boys had absolutely bratty personalities but conveniently had a wise pep talk waiting in their back pocket anytime the main character was upset. The supporting characters were meant to be challenging toward Jackie but their jabs were unrealistically cruel. The relationships followed the “we barely have serious interactions but suddenly I love you more than life” vibes.
Words I thought I’d never say lol : The Netflix adaptation provided all the depth and character development that the book lacked and the director/producer for the show deserves all the kudos for seeing the potential this book had because this book was so bad it was almost a DNF for me.
