Midnight Tides by Steven Erikson
3.0
In many ways Midnight Tides feels like a step back from the previous books. Primarily, that is because the book jumps yet again to a brand new location in the world, with brand new characters (with one exception) and story. Fortunately, it throws you in there better than Deadhouse Gates did. Unfortunately, it is still difficult to get into, and you're given very little handholding. It took me a long time to really feel comfortable and get into this book, like with the first two books, and for a 5th book in a series, that's not a good feeling. It was fine, but nothing more than that, so a 3/5 for me
