The Winners by Fredrik Backman

5.0

I received this wonderful book as a review copy from Atria via Edelweiss. I am so grateful for that generosity.
I loved this series, it is by far my favorite work from Backman, though I truly adored My Grandmother Asked Me....
What stood out is how Backman again takes us into a world that is vivid, real, and complex with a satisfying resolution to characters I have come to know and love. There is an elegance to how Backman write about the unique, almost insular, world of hockey and Beartown, and writes lovingly to resolve each characters' arc. It is amazing how a book about a town and people can be filled with such suspense and intensity and how, at a rather impressive 700 pages, this book flies by because of the suspense and how much I came to love each character. The story will again perhaps require some tissues or some chocolate or it might generate desire to pour one out for beloved characters... but it will also make you smile.
Atria, it was such a pleasure to have this book and I appreciate the kindness of sharing Backman's work with me.
