I'm usually having a hard time with historical fiction taking place during WWII but this one felt right. Marie-Laure's character was very unique and beautifully written. It was very interesting to follow her from busy Paris to the small village of Saint-Malo. (If you haven't heard of Saint-Malo yet do yourself a favour and look it up! Such a cool place and I hope to travel there myself someday!) It was also very interesting to read about the French resistance.
The story around Werner was also very gripping. Seeing this young, smart boy growing up and starting to work for the nazi's, just wanting to become a scientist. His story is heartwarming yet heartbreaking at the same time.
The story in general was very beautiful but also very sad. If you haven't read this one yet I highly recommend doing so!
